TRINKLE, Vernon

Vernon J. “Jake” Trinkle, 58, of Rt. 1, New Ross, died at 6 p.m. Saturday in West 10th Street VA Hospital at Indianapolis after an extended illness. He had been employed by Mid-States Steel & Wire Co. for the past 15 years. Mr. Trinkle served in the Army Air Force from 1939-1943. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and New Ross American Legion Post 427. He was educated at Veedersburg. Born Dec. 29, 1918, at Veedersburg, he was a son of Jasper A. and Dora Alice Butts Trinkle. He was married to Delores E. Turpin in 1967. She survives. Also surviving are a stepson, Charles Turpin of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Robert of Veedersburg; a sister, Marie Linker of Veedersburg; a grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A brother is deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Everett Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. American Legion Post 427 will conduct graveside rites.   --typed by Walt W
