Elsie Trobaugh, active church volunteer -- Visitation for Elsie B. Trobaugh, 84, of Kankakee, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, the Rev. Ronald Doolittle and the Rev. Robert Watson will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Danville. Memorials may be made for the First Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Trobaugh died Sunday June 13, 1993. She was born May 22, 1909 in Rossville, Illinois, the daughter of Cleveland and Mary Mains Handley. She married Alva C. Trobaugh on June 22, 1929 in Danville, Illinois. He died in July 1987. Surviving are 2 sons, Carl of Bradley and a second son of Princeton, W. Va.; one stepson, George Trobaugh of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers, Dean Handley of Louisville, Ky., Floyd Handley of Mattoon, Harold Handley of Rolling Meadows and Donald Handley of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five sisters, Margaret DeNeal of Affton, Mo., Mildred Messmore of Danville, a sister of Byran, Ohio, a sister of Goshen, Ind. and a sister of Oklahoma City, Okla. Three brothers, James, Ormal and Claude Handley are deceased. A member of the Church of the Nazarene for more than 60 years, Mrs. Trobaugh had been a member of Nazarene churches in Hoopeston, Rock Island and Danville. She was currently a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kankakee. She enjoyed music and had been active in church choirs, led music and had been a vocalist for revivals and funerals. She was a member of the Prime Time Seniors at First Church. Mrs. Trobaugh was a memeber of Kankakee County Home Extension Association.
