TRUMAN, Henry Benjamin

Henry B. Truman, aged 72 years, expired at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon following a three months' illness at his home in Veedersburg. His death was attributed to a complication of diseases. Mr. Truman was born in Parke County , Sept 11, 1862, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Truman. He was married to Miss Mattie Leach fifty years ago. The deceased spent his early life in Parke County and later resided in Danville, Ill., where he followed the carpenter trade. Twelve years ago he moved to Veedersburg. Mr. Truman was a member of the Christian Church. Surviving, besides the widow, are two sons, Dewey Truman, of Marion and Edward Truman, of Veedersburg; ten daughters, Mrs. Mae Lape and Mrs. Grace High, both of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Eva Mitchell, of Detroit, Mrs. Helen Brown, of Cleveland, Mrs. Rachel Wagner, of Los Angeles, Mrs.Idelle Peveler of Mellott, Mrs. Elizabeth Mertz of Collison, Ill., Mrs. Emma Switzer and Mrs. Sadie Harrington, both of Veedersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Birge and Mrs. Estel Adkins, both of Danville, Ill., Mrs. Ella Sowers, of Pence, Ind., and Mrs. Elizabeth Snoddy of Redmon, Ill.; thirty-five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Truman residence in charge of the Rev. O.W. McGaughey. Burial was made in the Bonebrake Cemetery, south of Veedersburg.
