VEEDERSBURG — Alan Dean Verhey, 22, 619 E. 400 N., Veedersburg, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Ill., from injuries sustained in a ATV accident. He was born July 2, 1984 in Lafayette, the son of Jerry Dean Verhey and Rose Mary Clark. He was a life resident of rural Veedersburg. He graduated from Fountain Central High School in 2002 and from Vincennes University in 2004. He had worked as a machinist for B & L Engineering Co., Crawfordsville for the past two years. He attended the Sterling Christian Church, Veedersburg. He was a 10 year member of the Van Buren Country Kids 4-H and was active in FFA at Fountain Central High School. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying riding ATV's, camping, hunting, fishing and boating. His family is proud to have given the gift of organ donation. Survivors, besides his parents, Jerry and Susan Verhey, Veedersburg and Rose Mary Clark, Springtown, Texas; paternal grandparents, Howard and Helen Verhey, Attica and Beulah Summers, Williamsport; maternal grandmother, Rose Clark, Attica; three sisters, Rachel (Cory) Brown, Hillsboro, Michelle Summers, Veedersburg, and Lori (Derrick) Hinds, Newburgh; a brother, Mark Peterson, Attica; two nieces, Aubrey Brown and Marissa Summers; girlfriend, Megan DeSutter; and his dog, Pepper. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Charles Clark. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Pastor David Sims officiating.
