ATTICA — Nellie Ruth (Stetler) Vester, 86, Attica, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 in her residence, following an illness of six months. She was born Dec. 24, 1920 in Fountain County, the daughter of Walter Jacob Tilden and Elizabeth Jane (Porter) Stetler. She married John Julius Vester April 3, 1943 in Fountain County. He preceded in death March 16, 1991. She was raised in Warren County, attending Pine Village High School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, oil painting, quilting, reading western novels, fishing and mushrooming. Survivors include: two daughters, Muriel (James) Best, Independence and Jane (Richard) Martin, Lafayette: a brother Charles (Charlie” (Ruby) Stetler, Attica; four grandchildren, Gary M. Martin, Michelle M. (Joe) Cronk, Ronald J. Best and Kathy J. (John) Moore; and a great-grandson, Andrew J. Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Edith Opal Troxel, Olive Harper, Mary Taylor and Clara Kirchbaum; four brothers, Simon, Joseph, Elmer and Paul Stetler; and a grandson, Jeffery Wayne Martin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with William Alenduff officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, south of Lafayette. Born in Fountain County Dec 24, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jacob Tilden Stetler and Elizabeth Jane Porter Stetler. She was raised in Warren County and attended Pine Village HS.  She married John Julius Vester April 3, 1943 in Fountain County. He died March 16, 1991.  Mrs. Vester, a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, oil painting, quilting, western novels, fishing and mushroom hunting. Surviving are two daughters, Muriel Best (husband, James) of Independence; Jane Martin (husband Richard) of Lafayette; a brother, Charles “Charlie” Stetler (wife Ruby) of Attica.  Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 pm. Wednesday Sept 19, William Alenduff officiating.  Interment Asbury Cemetery south of Lafayette. Surviving are four grandchildren, Gary M. Martin; Michelle M (Joe) Cronk; Ronald J. Best and Kathy J (John) Moore; a great grandson, Andrew J.
