COVINGTON, Ind. CNS) – Mrs. Alta Estella Yates, 82, of Covington, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday (May 29, 1973) at St .Elizabeth Hospital. She had been a patient 12 hours. Born March 7, 1891, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Frederick Abel and Sarah Rebecca Garloch Waggoner. She was married Aug. 14, 1915, to Herschel Morgan Yates, who died Oct. 16, 1931. A former resident of Perrysville, she had resided in Covington for the past 42 years. She was a member of the Seventh St. Church of Christ of Covington. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Estella) Dunivan of Indianapolis and Mrs. Ernest (Mildred) Odeneal of Covington; a son, Fredrick of Des Plaines, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Beulah Ellmore of Covington; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, with the Rev. V. C. McCormack officiating. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery at Perrysville. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.   -– jlr
