Dafford C. YERKES, 59 resident one mile West of Wallace, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville where he was taken after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Yerkes was born in Fountain County on March 20, 1907 a son of Sam & Othella Russell Yerkes. He was married to Eleanor Sowers at Veedersburg on Sept 12, 1925. Mr. Yerkes died in Novermber of 1962. He was a member of the Wallace Freedom Christian Church, Wallace Lodge no. 495 F&AM; Wallace No 415 OES and Wallace Low 12 Club. Mr. Yerkes lived his entire married life near Wallace and was employed at Olin Mathison near Covington. He attended Raab & Covington schools. Besides his wife, his father, a sister and a granddaughter preceded him in death. Surviving are his mother, Othella Yerkes; 3 sons, Corwin ; Cathmer and Kenneth; two adopted daughters, Mrs. Patricia Bilbey and Mrs. Phyllis Hall 13 grandchildren and two brothers, William and Chester. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown where friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.
