Mrs. Edith Blanche Young, 63, wife of Maurice M. Young, Covington, Ind died in Lake View Hospital here about midnight Monday night. She had long been ill. Mrs. Ruby Maffitt, city, is one of the surviving daughters. Mrs. Young was born in Des Plaines, County, Ill July 12, 1871, daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth Claypool. The family moved from Decatur to a farm east of Covington in 1906. Surviving besides the husband are six children: Mrs. Maffitt, Danville; Mrs. Elva Hornaday, Versailles, Mo; Mrs. Clara Dewlen, Mrs. Myra Coffing, Miss Lucille and WIllam Young, all of Covington. Two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Bass, Laurel, Neb and Mrs. Ruth Brewer, Westerville, also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev. George F. Beatty, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Veedersburg. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Crumley & Son in charge.

Mrs. Edith Blanche Young, wife of Maurice M. Young, a prominent former resident just east of Covington, passed away at Lakeview Hospital in Danville at 11 o'clock on Monday evening. She had been in failing health for several months and was taken to the hospital where an operation was performed on Monday and her death followed in a few hours. Mrs. Young was well known in this community where she had lived for many years and reared a large family of fine children. She was active in the church and social work of the neighborhood in which she lived. She was born July 12, 1871, a daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth Claypool in McClean County, Illinois. She was married to Maurice M. Young on February 7, 1894 and shortly after their marriage they moved to a farm east of Covington which they purchased. The husband and six children survive, a son having died in infancy and a daughter at the age of 13. The children are Mrs. Earl Maffett, of Danville, Ill; Mrs. J. W. Hornaday of Versailles, Mo; Mrs. Lamont Dewlin, Mrs. David Coffing, William and Lucille, all of this vicinity. Six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Brewer of Westville, Ill and Mrs. Josephine Bass of Laurel, Neb also survive. Mrs. Young was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and during her residence here was associated with the Salem M. E. Church. The funeral rites were held at the home on Thursday afternoon conduted by Rev. Beatty, pastor of the Salem Church and interment was made in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
