George Ross Young, age 81, a lifetime resident of Covington area and well-known horse trainer, died at 9 p.m. Sunday May 1 at Rudisill Nursing Home, 2nd St, Covington. He had been ill two years and seriouly ill two weeks. Mr. Young was born Sept 26, 1884, son of John and Charity Morris Young. He was married to Mertie Myers who preceded him in death. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Hattie Shaff, who makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Shelton in Wichita Falls, TX and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Young, Covington. He was preceded in death his parents, wife and one brother, Wilbur. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday May 4 at the Hegg Funeral Home, Covington. Rev. Glenn Ray officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
