YOUNG, James Douglas - Vietnam

Mr. James, “Jim” Douglas Young, 69, of Crawfordsville passed away surrounded by his family at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health Crawfordsville on Tuesday Jan 15.  Jim was born June 28, 1943 at Danville, Ill to Paul C. and Julia V. Dunham Young, and grew up in Kingman graduating from Kingman HS.  He then joined the Marine Corps and served from July 1961 to July 1965. He retired from AT&T as a switchman.

Jim married Marcia Wilson on Nov 14, 1969, and she survives him. He is also survived by son Tom (Jeanne) Young of Atlanta, Ga and daughter, Becky (Brian) Miller of Ft. Wayne. He is also survived by two brothers, Alan (Luanna) Young of Washington St and Paul Leslie (Sheila) Young of Kingman; sister, Mrs. Linda (Lynn) Knupp of Reno, Nev. He was proud to have been Papaw to 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday Jan 19 at New Hope Christian Church, 2746 US 231S Crawfordsville. Officiated by Rev. Alan Sparks. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the services. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Wounded Warriors Project, POB 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Envelopes will be provided at the service.
