Mrs. Clara E. Zackmire, 82, died at 3 p.m. Friday at her home, following a month’s illness of a heart ailment.

  Mrs. Zackmire was born July 12, 1866 in Fountain County, daughter of David and Sallie Marshall Ratcliff. She was married Dec. 12, 1912 to Henry Zackmire, who died March 16, 1940. She was a member of the OES, Daughters of Union Veterans and the EUB Church.

  Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Flora Ratcliff, Kingman; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. -S&E

  Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Zackmire were held at the EUB Church Sunday afternoon. The obituary and scripture were read by the Rev. J. K. Dilley and the service was given by the Rev. L. L. Rapp of Muncie, formerly of Kingman. Music was furnished by Mrs. M. L. Cory and Mrs. Ward Mann with Mrs. Ben Stern, pianist.

  Pall bearers were Hiram Brown, Merrill Crabb, V. H. Sanders, Joe Starkey, Harold Zackmire and George Cory Jr.
  Flower bearers were Miss Leora Marshall, Mrs. Loren Jones, Mrs. Harold Smith, Mrs. Eva Sanders, Mrs. Rex Southard, Mrs. Clem Ratcliff, Mrs. Eston Crowder, Mrs. M. L. Cory, Mrs. Fay Cook and Mrs. Robert Newnum. Flag bearers of the Daughters of Union Veterans were Miss Katie Hudson, Miss Peggy Ann Swaim, Mrs. Elmer Grubbs and Mrs. Elmer Alward.
  Burial was in Fraternal Cemetery with the Spencer Funeral Home in charge. – thanks to S&E

  Clara Ratcliff Zackmire, eldest daughter of David J. and Sallie M. Marshall Ratcliff, was born July 12, 1866 and departed this life Sept. 17, 1948, aged 82 years, two months and five days. She was married to Henry Zackmire Dec. 12, 1912, who died March 16, 1940.  She spent most of her life in and near Kingman where she was a member of the Eastern Star, DUV, the U.B. Church and Ladies Aid.

  She leaves to mourn her passing, her only sister, Flora Ratcliff, who so tenderly and lovingly cared for her during her last illness, also three step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. – thanks to S&E
