Gertrude Babb, 78, of 307 E. Franklin Street died at 2 p.m. Thursday in Houston Health Care Center. Mrs. Babb had worked at Goodman's Dept. Store, Montgomery Wards & Hillsdale Manuf Co. She was a member of the Church of Christ. she attended grade school at Steam Coenr and graduated from Hillsboro HS. Born Sept 20, 1904 at Scotts Prairie she was a daughter of George and Carrie Etter Adkins. She married John D. Babb Nov 20, 1930. He died June 14, 1976. Surviving are a niece, Norma Jean Stream of Veedersburg and 3 nephews, James Adkins of Lafayette; Larry Adkins of Wallace and John Adkins of Indianapolis. Two brothers, Leslie and Kenneth are deceased. Services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Powers Funeral home with Gene Warman officiating. burial in Waynetown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
