Covington- A rural Covington woman died at 2:48 Wednesday afternoon in a Danville, Ill., hospital from injuries suffered in a single-car crash south of here Tuesday afternoon.

Sharon Louise Bainbridge, 28, of Rt. 1, Covington, died in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill.  Injured in the accident were Mrs. Bainbridge’s husband, Charles, 29, and Donald Beckley, 23 of rural Covington.  Bainbridge was treated for rib injuries at St. Elizabeth.  Beckley is a patient in Burnham City Hospital at Champaign, Ill., where he is being treated for head and chest injuries. He was transferred there after being treated at St. Elizabeth.

The dead woman and her husband were passengers in a car being driven by Beckley.  The accident occurred about 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, 7 ½ miles south of Covington near Soddy’s Mill.  The three were injured when the car failed to negotiate a sharp curve on County Road 66W and ran into a deep ditch, coming to rest on its side against an embankment.  The accident was investigated by Fountain County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Martin.

Mrs. Bainbridge had been a rural Covington resident since 1977.  She was a 1971 graduate of Monango (N.D.) High School and had attended vocational school at Fargo, N.D.  She attended Cooper’s Chapel Church and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Monango.

She was born April 23, 1952, at La Moure, N.D., a daughter of Claus and Louise Speidel Hoops.  She married Charles R. Bainbridge March 22, 1974.

Surviving besides her husband are a son, Charles Edward, at home; her parents, of Mongano; two brothers, Donald and Robert Hoops, both of Monango; and several aunts and uncles.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington, with the Rev. Max Paddock officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home 4-9 p.m. Friday. -- smc

Sharon Bainbridge, 28, RR 1, Covington, died Wednesday, January 28, as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident the day before.
  Mrs. Bainbridge was a passenger in a car driven by her 29-year-old husband, Charles. He was also hospitalized as was another passenger, Donald Beckley, 23, rural Kingman. According to the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department, the vehicle apparently missed a curve on a county road near Snoddy’s Mill at 4:40 p.m. and went into a ditch where it overturned. Beckley’s arm was pinned under the auto.
  Services for Mrs. Bainbridge were conducted Saturday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. Rev. Max Paddock officiated and burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
  A resident of RR 1, Covington, since 1977, she formerly had resided in North Dakota. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monango, North Dakota and attended Coopers Chapel Church south of Covington.
  She was a 1971 graduate of Monango High School and attended a vocational school in Fargo, North Dakota.
