ATTICA — Alice May (Padgett) Baker, 73, formerly of 1209 S. Perry St., Attica, and had been residing in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport, died at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2001 in the emergency room of St. Vincent's Williamsport Hospital. She was born March 4, 1928 in Columbus, the daughter of Edgar Dale and Jessica Onenona Davis Padgett. She married Charles Edward Baker June 16, 1945 in Lafayette. He preceded in death July 1, 1989. She was raised in Columbus and West Point and attended West Point School. She had lived in Williamsport for a few years, but most of her life was spent in Attica. She had resided in Country Care since September of 2000. She worked at Radio Material Corporation in Attica for 15 years and later as a nurses aid at Country Care Nursing Center in Williamsport. She was a member of the Wabash Valley Bible Baptist Church in Williamsport. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling and in her past time she enjoyed watching baseball games. Survivors include: two daughters, Joetta Fern Spencer, Lake City, Tenn. and Joanne (Lance) Borst, Attica; four sons, Alfred Dale (Linda) Baker, Davie, Fla., Charles “Chuck” Everett (Roberta) Baker, Williamsport, Randy Ray (Joni) Baker, Attica and Jeffrey Jay (Pam) Baker, Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Jackie Lee (Hazel) Padgett, Lafayette; a sister, Loretta Sue (Albert) Brewer, West Lafayette; two half brothers, Carl Clifton Chafin, Kentucky and Lee Edward Chafin, Battleground; a half sister, Linda Lou, Florida; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. John Adams officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. – jlr
