Mrs. Ila Bales, of Veedersburg Route 3, died Friday July 7, 1978 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville. She had been a patient two weeks. Born July 30, 1917, in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of Charles C. and Estella Myrtle Grimes Allen. On Nov. 30, 1935, she was married to Vernon Bales, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Norman of Warsaw and Warren at home; two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Marilyn) Dobbles of Georgetown and Mrs. Donald (Sharon) Harmeson of Loma Linda, Calif.; a brother, Donald Allen of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Rogers of Veedersburg and Mrs. Sam Boatman of Danville; and six grandchildren. She was a graduate of Kingman High and was a member of the Church of God in Veedersburg. Funeral services at the Dickerson Funeral Home, Rev. James Best officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery, west of Newtown.

Veedersburg - Mrs. Ila Bales, 60, of Rt 3, Veedersburg near Mellott died at 4:10 a.m. today in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill where she had been a patient two weeks. Born at Veedersburg, Mrs. Bales was a life resident of this area and was a graduate of Kingman HS. In 1935 she was married at Kentland to Vernon Bales, who survives. She was a member of Veedersburg Church of God. Surviving with the husband are two daughters, Mrs. Philip (Marilyn) Dobbles of Georgetown Ill and Mrs. Don (Sharon) Harmeson of Loma Linda, Calif; two sons, Norman Bales of Warsaw and Warren Bales at home; one brother, Donald Allen of Dallas Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Rogers of Veedersburg and Mrs. Sam Boatman of Danville, Ill.   - kbz
