Leroy C. BALES, 55, an employee of Attica Ledger Tribune died 4:50 a.m. Monday May 28, 1962 at Community Hospital, Williamsport. He had been seriously ill since February. Born Jan 23, 1907 in Attica he was the son of Nel & Nina Bales. He graduated from Attica HS 1926 and married in 1930 to Grace Lucille Lindley. She died in 1937. He was later married to Myrtle Nelson who survives. Mr. Bales had been employed by the newspaper 42 years beginning as a carrier. He worked in all jobs in the printing trade and was a job shop foreman at the time of his death. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and had been a member of the Attica Volunteer Fire Department 28 years. Survivors include 3 sons: Armand C. of Dolton, Ill; Arvin of the Navy at Great Lakes & Aaron L of Attica; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Allender of Midley Ohio and 13 grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at DeSutter Fuenral Home in Attica. Rev. Douglas Dickey officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
