BANTA, Mary Louise Hoagland - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Covington - Mary Louise Banta, 68, of Covington, manager of the Covington License Branch, died Thursday afternoon in Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill. She had been ill six months. She was long associated with Republican Women organizations and formerly owned and operated Tremont Hotel & Courthouse Cafe at Covington. She was a member of Troy Chapter, Eastern Star and First Church of Christ at Covington. She was educated in Rob Roy & Shawnee schools. Mrs. Banta was born in Fountain County April 24, 1910, daughter of George M. and Ruth V. Ward Hoagland. She married James J. Banta Dec 24, 1929 at Covington. Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Lucille) Washburn of Rockville; a brother, Harold of Rt 1, Covington and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in DeVerter Funeral Home at Covington with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 pm. Saturday. Eastern Star services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday. The family requests memorials be made in the form of donations to the Fountain County Cancer Society.
