Mellott — Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 9, at the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro for Mrs. Bertha E. Bantz, age 69, of Mellott, who died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where she had been a patient one week. She had been in ill health several years. The Rev. Grover DeNeal officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Born March 5, 1894, at Penfied, Ill., she was a daughter of Reuben and Lottie Haas Short. She had resided in the Mellott area most of her life. She was married Oct. 17, 1915, to Taylor Bantz who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bantz was a member of the New Antioch Christian Church of Mellott. Surviving are two sons, Harold of near Mellott and Taylor, Jr., at home; a brother, Clarence Short of Attica, and three grandchildren.
