ATTICA – Marvin E. Barger, age 51, of Pence, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis where he had been a patient since July 29. Mr. Barger was born Jan. 13, 1918 in Castlewood, S. D., the son of James Andrew and Olga Simonson Barger. He was married July 4, 1945 in Elizabethtown, Ky., to Birdie Mae Price, who survives. He was a veteran of World War II and he served with the U.S. Army infantry in the South Pacific. He was a mechanic by trade, having operated a business in Pence for about eight years. He had lived in Pence for the past 15 years. He attended the Pence Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: five brothers, Stenar of Millville, Ohio, David of Ontario, Calif., Donald of Dayton, Ohio and Virgil and Delmar of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Mrs. Robert Fichter of Riley, Ohio. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Pence Methodist Church. The Rev. Everett White officiated. Burial was in Jordan cemetery at Pence.
