Kingman -- Emerson Barker, 83 years old retired farmer died Tuesday morning in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill. He had been hospitalized since Aug 25. A resident of Kingman, he was a member of Friends Church at Tangier. He was born Dec 29, 1881 in Parke County, son of Jesse and Martha Baccus Barker. He was married in 1907 to Nellie Swaim. She died Jul 27, 1962. Surviving are two brothers, Vernon of Linden and Morton of South Bend; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Stor of Decatur, Ill; and two granddaughters, Mary and Martha Gail Thomas, both of Lakeside, AZ. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m Thursday at Woodrow Funeral Home here with Rev Ruth Isaacs officiating. Interment will be in Fraternal Cemetery here. Friends may pay their respects from 2 until 4 in the afternoon and from 7 until 9 in the evening. ?? Newspaper Kingman -- Mrs. Nellie Barker, 80 died at the Firnedship Home in Bloomingdale In about 7 p.m. yesterday July 27, 1962. She had been a patient at the nursing home for about one year. Born Apirl 23, 1882 in Parke Co, she was the daughter of William and Rebecca Cox Swaim. She was married to Emerson Barker, who survives. A member of Tangier Friends Church, she resided in the Kingman - Tangier areas all her life. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Abbie Thomas of Kingman; and two granddaughters. She was prec in d. by a sister. The body is at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman where arrangements are pending with burial at Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.
