Covington - Secrate Belcher, Jr. 65 died at 5 a.m. July 16, 1994 at his home. He was born May 7, 1929 at Provo, KY the son of Secrate and Ella Faye Mathis Belcher. He married Hazel Groves, June 28, 1946 at Mt. Vernon, Ky. She survives. He was a resident of Covington since 1981, he formerly lived at Catlin and Danville, Ill. He operated the Standard Oil Station at Gilbert & Fairchild in Danville many years and was employed at Bohn Aluminum. He enjoyed fishing and Blue Grass music. Surviving besides his wife, are three daughters, Elizabeth (Henry) Hammer, Kingman; Linda (John) Pope and Patsy ( Michael) Latoz, both of Covington; a son, Charles (Cindy) Belcher, St. Joseph, Ill; a sister, Elvie Lownes, Sonoma, Calif; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor James Shaw officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope, Covington.
