Martha E. Bell, 87 of 104 S. Pine Street died at 12:35 a.m. Saturday (Sept 26, 1987, born Aug 24, 1900) in her home. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Alamo and Kansas. In later years she had managed the Alamo School hot lunch program. She moved from Alamo to Crawfordsville in 1960.  She was a former member of the Alamo Christian Church. After moving to Crawfordsville she joined Christ United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Bell was a member of Alamo Order of Eastern Star Chapter 496. She graduated in 1918 from Waynetown HS and later from Terre Haute Normal College. She was born Aug 24, 1900 north of Waynetown to William and Slaina Butcher Hatt. She was married April 7, 1920 to Alonzo Earl Bell.  He died Sept 16, 1968. Surviving are three sons Warren of Crawfordsville, Archie of Rt 7, Crawfordsville and WIlliam of New Market; a daughter, Stella Boots Quillin of Rt 7, Crawfordsville; a brother, Joe Hatt of Waynetown; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother are deceased. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas Funeral  Home, Waynetown with Revs. Dorman WInger and George McCloskey officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
