Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Riley and Miss Mildred Riley of Chicago spent the weekend here with Mr. and Mrs. EJ Riley and attended the funeral of Frank Benamire, merchant policeman.

Attica, March 22 – At a special meeting of the retail division, Attica Merchants’ Association, Monday evening in the city council chamber, Lloyd Mickle was named merchant police to succeed Frank Benamire, veteran night watchman who died last Friday.  Mickle will assume his duties Saturday night. Other candidates were Horace Martin, Carl Morgan, Rolland Knowles, James Reed, Landis McIntyre, Will Best, William Evans, Ed Bloome, John W. Redmond and Juel Delp. John Ritzi, new chairman of the retail division, presided, Mickle has served as constable for 2 ½ years in addition to considerable special police work., is a member of the Attica Volunteer Fire Department and is employed as mechanic at the Rice Garage. He will hold a commission as special officer of the city police department, and will be under bond. He has agreed to assist in parking automobiles on Saturday nights and in special police work.

Attica – Frank Benamire, 86 of 406 N Perry St, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Alward Nursing Home where he had been a patient one year.  Mr. Benamire, a native and life time resident of Attica, was a plumber and tinner by trade.  He was also employed as a fireman on the Wabash Railroad and after his retirement there he worked for the former DeSutter Furniture store.  In 1913 he was married to Regina Nettie Graf, who died in 1960.  He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a charter member of Attica Fire Department. There was no immediate survivors.

“Funeral Notices” – Benamire, Frank. Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Dale Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Rosary service there at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral mass 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Rev. Edward Matuszak officiating. Interment Catholic Cemetery Attica.  Nieces and nephews survive. - kbz
