Ira A. Bennett, 81, retired farmer and life long resident of the community between Veedersburg and Mellott, died at his home at 7 a.m. Sunday Nov 12. He was born on the farm Nov 25, 1868 the son of Abraham and Mahala Yeazle Bennett. On Aug 21, 1890, he was married to Maggie Richardson who preceded him in death. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Methodist Church and an active farmer until his retirement a few years ago. He is survived by one son, Walter Bennett of Veedersburg and one daughter, Mrs. Marie Wilson of Attica, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Guy Walters of Mellott with burial in Union Cemetery with the Fishero Funeral Home in charge.
