BENNETT, Leslie - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

ATTICA -- Leslie O. Bennett, age 55, of Attica, died at 2:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at the Community Hospital in Williamsport shortly after being admitted. He had been ill two years. Mr. Bennett was born at Orleans Feb. 20, 1915, the son of Roy and Rebecca Buchanan Bennett. He was married Aug. 5, 1945, to Ethel Painter at Paxton, Ill. He attended school at Clarence, Ill., and had resided in Paxton for 25 years before moving to Attica 15 years ago. He was employed as a grinder at the Harrison Steel Castings Co. until retiring in July because of ill health. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Swank of Attica; his mother of Paxton; one brother, Emmett of Rankin, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. Novia Ault of Rossville, Ill., Mrs. Opal Downing of Armstrong, Ill., and Mrs. Rosalyn Bettler of Paxton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 18, at the DeSutter Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Bachert officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sandra Sue) Swank of Attica; his mother of Paxton; a brother, Emmett of Rankin, Ill.; and three sisters, Mrs. Novia Ault of Rossville, Ill., Mrs. Opia Downing of Armstrong, Ill., and Mrs. Rosalyn Bettler of Paxton. Services Wednesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Bachert officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery.
