Robert D. Bennett, 42 of Crawfordsville, formerly of Kingman was killed Wednesday night when his car went off Indiana 32 and crashed into a fence & utility pole west of Crawfordsville. He was born in Kingman Feb 14, 1926 the son of Herschel Mabel Dark Bennett. He was reared in Kingman area and later graduated from KHS. Mr. Bennett was a member of Kingman Christian Church. During WWII, he served with the US Navy in the Pacific theater. He was affiliated with Veterans of FW Post 1431 Crawfordsville. He was employed by Western Southern Insurance Company since 1959 and had resided in the Crawfordsville area for about 12 years. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Mable Heisel of Clarendon HIlls, Ill; his grandmother, Mrs Effie Dark of Waveland; a daughter, Donna Louise of Ft. Wayne; two aunts, Mrs. Lex (Mildred) Bowman of Waveland and Mrs. Vela Starnes of Cape Coral, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father in 1961. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodrow Funeral Home, Kingman. The Rev. Larry McMillan was in charge with burial in Kingman Fraternal Cemetery.

KINGMAN – Funeral services for Robert D. Bennett, age 42, a Crawfordsville insurance agent and native of the Kingman community, killed in a one-car crash on Indiana 32, about a mile west of Indiana 25 Wednesday night, May 8, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodrow Funeral Home here. The Rev. Larry McMillan officiated and burial was in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Kingman Feb. 14, 1926, the son of Herschel and Mabel Dark Bennett. He was reared in the Kingman area and later graduated from Kingman High School. He was a member of the Kingman Christian Church. During World War II, he served with the U. S.
