INDEPENDENCE — Vern Clark Benson, 55, died Wednesday night in his Independence home after an illness of several weeks. A native of Independence, he spent his life here. He was a farmer and stock buyer and was a member of Attica Eagles Aerie. He never married. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Ruth Fay of Lafayette, and his stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Benson of Independence.
