Enoch Bentley, 77, a native of England died at his home in Veedersburg at 9:25 o’clock Wednesday night, July 11 after an illness of four months. He had lain seriously ill the last two weeks after a series of strokes. He was the son of Abraham and maria Trunter Bentley and was born in Durham County England Dec 25, 1873.  He was married to Sarah Longstaff in England on May 30, 1896 and they came to the US 45 years ago. Mr. Bentley was a retired coal miner and had lived in Veedersburg more than 20 years and for the last four years had been a watchman at the Fountain Foundry. Surviving are the wife and 7 sons: George of Clinton; John, Maraloma, Calif; David, MillCreek, Ind; Norman, Montezuma; Vernon, Granger, Ind; William, Veedersburg and Elijah, New Carlisle, O. Three children preceded their father in death, one, Mrs. Ruby Bentley Wilson of Veedersburg, passing on 7 years ago.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fishero Funeral Home where the body will remain until then with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Clinton, Ind.
