Covington - J. Freeman Bilsland, 81, retired employee of Indiana Farm Bureau's office at Indianapolis, died at 11:01 p.m. Tuesday in Lakeview Hospital, Danville, Ill. He had been a patient 10 days and in ill health 4 years. He also had worked as a farmer in Fountain County in his early years, as a salesman for DeKalb Seed and as salesman for Allen's Pontiac & Oldmobile at Covington. Mr. Bilsland had been a resident of Covington since 1962. He also lived at Indianapolis and Plainfield. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Troy Chapter 145 of OES and Wallace Low 12 Club. He was a 50-year member of Fountain Lodge 60 F&AM. Mr. Bilsland was born July 14, 1893, in Troy Twp, Fountain County, a son of Benjamin W. and Flora Knapper Bilsland. He was married to Nellie Marton Nov 28, 195. She survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters: Mrs. Marion (Eileen) Glascock of Rt 2, Veedersburg; Mrs. James (Anita) Rombke of McLean VA; Mrs. Victor (Delores) Jacobs of Frankfort and Mrs. Joseph (Kathleen) Walton of Frankfort; 15 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. A sister is deceased. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Bodine & SHelby Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Stickler and Rev. Robert H. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday. Masonic services will be at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
