Hillsboro - Mrs. Myrtle Bittner, 77, Hillsboro, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rudisill Nursing Home in Covington. Mrs. Bittner had resided at the nursing home since June of 1963. Mrs. Bittner was a member of the New Liberty Church near Hillsboro and a member of the Aid Society. Born Dec. 25, 1886, north of Veedersburg, Mrs. Bittner was the daughter of Jonathan and Hester McKinney Butts. On Feb. 20, 1920, she married Clayton Bittner in Covington. Mr. Bittner died May 20, 1954. There were not children. From May, 1954, until she entered the nursing home, Mrs. Bittner made her home with her sister, Mrs. Gertrude Butts of Hillsboro. Mrs. Bittner was one of 11 children and was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. Survivors included the one sister, Mrs. Butts, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Crumly Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Gerald Babb will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home.
