Cates, Ind - Pearly Hugh Blacketer, 75, died at 10:30 p.m. yesterday (Feb 14, 1962) in the Britton Nursing Home at Rockville. He had been a patient there three weeks, following a six month illness. Born March 4, 1896, in Fulton Township, he was the son of Norman and Elizabeth Abernathy Blacketer. He was married June 10, 1914 to Cenith Jane Ricketts, who survives. Mr. Blacketer had been a life resident of Cates and community. He had been employed 21 years as a section hand on the Nickel Plate RR. He retired in 1951. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Elmore of Alamo, and three brothers, John of Cates, Courtney and Guy, both of Covington. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. E.V. Wamsley will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after noon Friday.
