COVINGTON - Mrs. Mabel M. Blair, age 77, a native of Vigo County and the mother of Mrs. Reagan (Hazel) Mallett of Covington Rt. 2, died at 7 a.m. (CDT) Sunday, Aug. 10, at Americana Nursing Home in Champaign, Ill. She had been a patient there since July 1 but death was unexpected. Mrs. Blair was born Oct. 6, 1891 in Vigo County, the daughter of Robert S. and Mary E. Tucker Meneely. She was married Feb. 21, 1911 to Frank Blair who preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1943. She was a member of the Seeleyville United Methodist Church and a former resident of Terre Haute. She had been employed in the diet kitchen at the Union Hospital in Terre Haute for 11 years, retiring in 1952. Since 1967, Mrs. Blair had made her home with her three daughters. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Verna Hauk of Brazil, Mrs. Mallett of Covington Rt. 2 and Mrs. Gertrude Ray of Indianapolis; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at l p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Terre Haute. The Rev. Charles Williams of Covington officiated. Burial was in Highland Lawn Cemetery at Terre Haute. The Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home of Covington was in charge of local arrangements.
