Joseph L. Bodine, 84 years old, retired farmer, died Wednesday afternoon at St, Elizabeth Hospital in Danville,  as a result of shock suffered 3 weeks ago when he fell at his home in Covington. A native of Fountain County, Mr. Bodine was born July 29, 1858 the son of John and Caroline Brewer Bodine. He married Martha Susan Stanton who preceded him in death 3 years ago.

Surviving are one son, HE Bodine of Covington; four grandchildren, Robert Bodine in service with the Navy at Hastings, Nebr; Martin F. Bodine, also in service with the Navy in the SW Pacific and James and Dortha Sue Bodine of Covington; two brothers, Manford and William (Jeff ) Bodine of Covington and one sister, Mrs. Renn Hathaway of Cayuga . Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the son's home in Covington, with the Rev.. George Beatty officiating.  Burial was at Mt. Hope cemetery.

Joseph L. Bodine passed away at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Covington Wednesday June 2 due to the shock of a fall suffered three weeks before. Mr. Bodine was born July 29, 1858 in Fountain County the son of John Bodine and Caroline Brewer Bodine. His wife, Susan preceded him in death. Survivors are a son, HE Bodine of Covington, two brothers, Manford south of Covington and Jesse of Covington, a sister, Mrs. Linn Hathaway of Cayuga, four grandchildren, Robert E. Bodine, stationed at Nebraska with the navy; Martin F. Bodine, stationed somewhere in the Pacific with the Navy. James and Dortha Sue Bodine at home.

Funeral services will be June 4 at 2 o’clock at the resident of his son at Covington with the Rev. George Beatty officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with Frank Y. Shelby in charge. - kbz
