Covington -- Mahlon Dee Bodine, 90, Rt. 2, Veedersburg, died unexpectedly at 11 a.m. Thursday in his home. Mr. Bodine spent his life farming in the Covington vicinity and retired in 1964. He had been in poor health for the past 5 years. Mr. Bodine was born on March 21, 1880, to Lew Wallace and Arabella Grimes Bodine in Wabash Township in Fountain County. In 1906 he married Kate DeHaven. Mr. Bodine's wife and one brother preceded him in death. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Edith auter, Covington; Mrs. Mildred Hoovermale, Rt. 2, Veedersburg and Mrs. Dorothy Rhodes, Battle Ground; one brother, Richard L. Bodine, Covington; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services will be held in the Hegg Funeral Home at Covington at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. EE McConnell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home.

COVINGTON — Mahlon Dee Bodine, age 90, a life resident of the Covington community, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Mildred) Hovermale, on Veedersburg Rt. 2, where he had resided the past 32 years. Although he had been ill for the past five years, death was unexpected at this time. Mr. Bodine was born March 21, 1880, in Wabash Township, Fountain County, the son of Lew Wallace and Arabella Grimes Bodine. He was married Sept. 13, 1906, to Kate DeHaven and she preceded him in death in November 1936. He was a farmer and had retired six years ago. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Edith Auter of Covington, Mrs. Hovermale of Veedersburg Rt. 2, and Mrs. Dorothy Rhoads of Battle Ground; one brother, Richard L. Bodine of Covington; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hegg Funeral Home here. The Rev. E. E. McConnell officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
