BODINE, Manford "Paddy"

Manford (Paddy) Bodine, 82, well known farmer of Covington community died suddenly at his home seven miles SE of Covington Monday afternoon (5 Jan) at 4:30 o'clock.  He had contracted a slight cold but had not
been seriously ill.  Born May 16, 1865 in Wabash Twp, Fountain County, he was the son of John and Caroline Brewer Bodine.  He married Gertrude Lewsader of Covington, Jan 24, 1904.  She preceded him in death in June 1942.  

Bodine was greatly interested in music and at one time organized an orchestra composed of members of his family.  He had lived on the farm where he died for the last 52 years and the large country home had gained the reputation of being a meeting place where friends and neighbors of the community were always insured a hearty welcome whenever they chose to call. The late home is within three miles of the birthplace of the deceased.  

Surviving are 3 daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Rennik; RFD 3,Covington; Mrs. Lura Smith, Covington and Miss Irene Bodine at home; two sons, Harold of Veedersburg and Morris at home; 7 grandchildren and one great grrandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home.  Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
