James Cornelius Bonebrake, 70, of Decatur, died at 2 a.m. Friday, Oct 29 at St. Mary's Hospital in Deatur. He was a former Danville and Veedersburg, Ind resident. He was born April 6, 1901 in Veedersburg, son of James O. and Mary A. Bonebrake. He was married to LaVone Fleming on December 24, 1923. She survives. Mr. Bonebrake graduated from Veedesburg HS and worked for Swallow Bus Lines before moving to Decatur about 30 years ago. He owned a farm in the Veedersburg area at the time of his death. Services were at Brintlinger Funeral Home, Decatur, at 3 p.m. Saturday. Burial was in Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg.

Masonic graveside rites were conducted Sunday, Oct 31, at Bonebrake Cemetery south of Veedersburg for James Cornelius (Boney) Bonebrake, 70 of Decatur, Ill. Services were conducted by Masonic Lodge #491 of Veedersburg with Brintlinger Funeral Home of Decatur in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bonebrake, a resident of Decatur for 30 years and a former Veedersburg resident died at St. Mary Hospital in Decatur Friday, Oct 29 (1971). He had been in ill health for one year and seriously ill for 3 months. He was born April 6, 1901, in Veedersburg, the only child of James O. and Mary A. Bonebrake. He was married to LaVone Fleming on December 24, 1923. The widow and five cousins survive. His schooling was in Veedersburg where he graduated in 1919 and returned in 1969 for the golden anniversary of his graduation. He was associated with Swallow Coach Bus Lines before moving to Decatur wher ehe was manager of Decatur Bus Lines until his retirement in 1949. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoyed raising and caring for English Setters. He was a member of the Veedersburg Lodge and Elks Lodge in Mattoon. Services were held Saturday afternoon Oct 30 at the funeral home in Decatur with Rev. Robert L. Jones officiating.
