BOOE, Myrtle Purnell

Mrs. Myrtle Booe, former resident of Veedersburg, died at a hospital in Chicago Friday after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Booe who had resided in Chicago for the past several years, was a sister of the late
Congressman Fred S. Purnell.  Born in Veedersburg in 1893, she was the daughter of Samuel and Odessa Furr Purnell. She was married to Warren Booe, whose death occurred Nov 9, 1942.   Mrs. Booe spent all of her
early life in Veedersburg and graduated from VHS in 1914. She was a talented musician and devoted Christian. The survivors include one son, Richard Booe with whom she lived in Chicago and a sister, Mrs. Helen Coffin of Evansville. The body ws brought to the Fishero & Son Funeral Home in Veedersburg and funeral services were held at the First Christian Church of which she was a member. Burial was made in the Rockfield cemetery  -- kbz

Veedersburg, Sept 19 – According to word to relative sin this city, Mrs. Myrtle Booe, 50, died Friday at a hospital in Chicago where she had been seriously ill for several weeks.  The deceased was the daughter of Samuel and Odessa Furr Purnell. She was born in Veedersburg and spent her early life here, graduating from the local high school in 1914. She was married to Warben Booe who preceded her in death Nov 11, 1942. Those surviving include a son, Richard and a sister, Mrs. Helen Coffin of Evansville. A brother, the former congressman Fred S. Purnell who also preceded her in death. The deceased was a member of the First Christian Church of Veedersburg. She was a talented musician. The remains will be brought to Veedersburg Sunday morning and taken to the Fishero Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday at the Christian Church. Interment will be in the family lot in Rockfield Cemetery. - kbz
