Earl known as "Dad" to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and as "Boordie" or Earl to his many friends was born in Fountain County on January 28, 1890 to Joseph and Mariam Boord. He worked all his life. For forty years he "picked up'' cream from farmer's of the surrounding territory. Since his official retirement he had usually had a job and was employed by the County at the time of his death. Earl and Alice Phipps were married for 48 years. Mrs. Boord preceeded him in death in death in November 1958. The six children of this marriage survive; three daughters, Thelma Irwin, Mariam Layman and Helen Clements, and three sons, Leighton, Robert and Joseph. Two sisters survive; Grace Nine and Dottie Hesler. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Earl always enjoyed children but especially appreciated his younger grandchildren and his great grandchildren in his later years. His second wife Laura Sentman also preceeded him in death. Earl Boord enjoyed life. He seldom looked back or reminisced. He lived for to-day and the future. He kept up with local, state, national and international events. He loved to talk them over and enjoyed nothing better than a good political discussion. He was a worker in the Sterling Christian Church, for , many years. He served as deacon, elder and Sunday School Superintendent. He believed the words of one of his favorite hymns. I serve a risen Saviour He's in the world to-day, I know that He is living, Whatever men may say, I see His hand of mercy, I hear his voice of cheer, And just the time I need Him He's always near. He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today- He walks with, me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives salvation to impart! You ask me how I know he lives? He lives within my heart. We wish to express, our sincere thanks to all our friends and relatives who were so kind and thoughtul during the stay in the hospital and death of our father, Earl Boord. For the many cards, flowers, visits and food. May God bless each and everyone of you is our sincere prayer. .The Children
