On the third day of last June, Frank Booz, an employee of the Big Four Railroad, living here, was working on the pile driver at the Covington Bridge over the Wabash River. He was sent on the upper deck to do some work and while there the train started. The heavy smoke blinded him and as the bridge had no ‘tell tale” to warn him, he was struck against the timbers of the bridge and instantly killed.

Today in the circuit court his widow, Anna Burbridge Booz, entered suit against the Big Four for $10,000. The suit is brought by Crane & Anderson and alleges that the death of Mr. Booz was caused by negligence of the railroad company. First, in keeping no tell tale at the bridge to warn the victim of his danger; second, Mr. Booz was not told of the danger before going on the upper deck of the pile driver; third, the company had the timbers of the bridge constructed so low that they endangered the lives of employees in the discharge of duty.
