BOWERS, Catharine Sowers - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Catharine Sowers was born in Davidson County NC Sept 9, 1823. In 1835 at the age of 12 she accompanied her parents to Fountain County and settled near Wallace. Jan 29, 1849 she was united in marriage to Jno. Bowers, who 5 years ago preceded her to the Great Beyond. To this union were born 7 Children: William, David, Mary Jane, Daniel, Elizabeth, Augusta, Jno. D and Harriet Ann, 3 of whom have preceded her in death. In her infancy she was baptized into the Lutheran church to which faith she held until it became necessary to lend her support & example to the community in which she lived by placing her membership with the nearest church, which was the Christian church at Freedom. She leaves to mourn their loss 2 daughters, a brother, Valentine Sowers and a sister, Mrs. Phillip Shoaf and a host of relatives and friends. She departed this life Wednesdary morning, March 25, 1909. Interment at Lutheran Cemetery east of Wallace.
