Harry J. Bowers, age 68, a lifetime resident of this community, died at 5:50 p. m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Danville. He had been in ill health two years and was listed critical the past three days. Born June 1, 1894, in the Covington area, he was the son of John and Matilda Smith Bowers. He was married in December of 1919 to Ruth Hunter, who preceded him in death in 1955. Mr. Bowers was a retired farmer and construction worker. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ellen Brewer of Covington; a son, John W. of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday at the Hegg Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Ray officiated. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Charley Cates, George Cruea, Luther Brewer, Harold Sweet, Russell Bowers and Jimmy Morris.
