Broadlands - Roy H. Boyd, 66, and his wife Leathie M., 63, of Broadlands were killed instantly in a one car wreck near Broadlands at 8:10 p.m. yesterday (Dec. 30, 1968). Mr. Boyd was born May 26, 1902 in Longview, the son of Fred and Minnie Edens Boyd. He was married to Leathie M. Anderson Dec. 28, 1928 at Tuscola. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Broadlands, Danville Scottish Rite, the American Legion Post 290 of Homer, the Broadlands Mason Lodge 791, and the VFW of Villa Grove. He was a retired machinist and a veteran of World War I. He is survived by a son, Oliver S. of Broadlands; a brother, Frank of Alton, and a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Josephine) Cable of Homewood. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Boyd was born March 23, 1905 Tuscola, the daughter of Oliver and Pearl Anderson. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Broadlands. Her only survivor is the son. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dicks-Kirby Funeral Home in Homer with the Rev. Paul Unger officiating. Burial will be in the GAR Cemetery at Homer. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services will be conducted for Mr. Boyd at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted at graveside.
