Cates—(CNS)—Mrs. Mary Erwin Bracken, 74, died at 4:30 a. m. Saturday (May 26, 1951) at her home here after an illness of two years; She had been in serious condition for the past two weeks. Mrs. Bracken was born May 21, 1877 in Tippecanoe County, Ind., the daughter of Levi and Mary Louch Erwin. On July 15, 1897 she married William C. Bracken who preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1941. She was a member of the Cates Royal Neighbor Lodge. She is survived by three sons, Ray and Guy of Cates and Paul of Terre Haute; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel DeWitt of Indianapolis and Mrs. Ethel Hooton of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Dora George of Lowell, Fla., Fred Erwin of Butlerville, Ind., Esta Erwin of San Bernardino, Calif., Mrs. Jessie Shoaf of Ocula, Fla. and Ross Erwin of Compton, Calif. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p. m. CST in the Cates United Brethren Church with the Rev. H. A. Lashbrook of Dunkirk officiating. Burial will be in Harveysburg Cemetery under the direction of the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home. The body will be returned to the residence Sunday where friends may call.

Cates - Mrs. Mary Irwin Bracken, 74 year of age, died at her home in Cates at 4:30 p.m. (CDT) Saturday. Mrs. Bracken was a member of the Cates U. B. church and the Royal Neighbor's lodge. She had been in failing health for two years and her condition had been serious for about two weeks. Mrs. Bracken was born May 21, 1877, the daughter of Levi and Mary Louck Irwin. She married William C. Bracken on July 15, 1897. He passed away on Oct. 29, 1941. She is survived by three sons, Ray and Guy of Cates, and Paul of Terre Haute; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel DeWitt of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Ethel Hooton of Frankfort; two sisters, Mrs. Dora George of Lowell, Fla., and Mrs. Jessie Shoaf of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Fred Irwin of Butlerville, Esta Irwin of San Bernadino, Cal., and Ross Irwin of Compton, Cal.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. (CST) at the Cates U. B. church. Rev. H. A. Lashbrook of Dunkirk will be in charge. Burial will be in the Harveysburg Cemetery.
