J. Earl Brandenburg, 74, of 1903 Kossuth St., Lafayette, died 8:25 a.m. Sunday (May 24, 1970) at Home Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been hospitalized since last Thursday. He was born near Williamsport on April 18, 1896. He lived in the Attica-Williamsport area for several years and as a young man attended the Bethel Church east of Attica. He lived several years in Detroit and came to Lafayette 20 years ago. He was married March 9, 1917, in Danville, Ill., to Mabel C. Whearley, who survives. He was employed as a desk clerk at the Lafayette YMCA the past four years and before that was employed at Britts Conoco station in Lafayette 16 years. He once owned a small farm north of Mellott. Surviving with the wife are a son, Forrest Brandenburg of Rochester, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Stevenson, Lansing, Mich.; one brother, Roy V. Brandenburg, Mellott. Ten grandchildren also survive. Funeral services in the Hippensteel Chapel Tuesday with Dr. J. Dayton McCormick officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery at Attica.

J. Earl Brandenburg, 74 of 1903 Kossuth St, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday in Home Hospital where he had been hospitalized since Thursday.  Born near Williamsport, he was reared in Attica and resided several years in Detroit before moving to Lafayette 20 years ago.  His marriage in 1917 in Danville Ill was to Mabel C. Whearley and she survives.  He was a desk clerk at the Lafayette YMCA the past four years and prior to that was employed 16 years at Britt's Conoco Service Station, 7th and Columbia Streets.  Surviving with his widow are a son, Forrest of Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Stevenson of Lansing, Mich and a brother, Roy V. of Mellott.

Brandenburg, J. Earl -- Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral services in Hippensteel Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Dr. J. Dayton McCormick officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Also surviving are 10 grandchildren.
