The Rev. Thomas Harrison Brandon, 76, of 432 Union, a retired Baptist minister, was dead on arrival at St. Elizabeth Hospital at 4:15 p.m. yesterday (March 23, 1967). He had been in ill health one year. The Rev. Mr. Brandon was a former pastor of the Antioch Baptist Church, the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church and the Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was founder of the Antioch Church. He had been retired about four years. He had resided in Danville since 1920, coming here from Terre Haute, Ind., where he was pastor of the St. James Baptist Church. The Rev. Mr. Brandon had been active in civic affairs of the community and was a member of the Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, the Interdenominational Alliance, the Wood River Baptist Association and was former president of the Danville Ministerial Association. Born July 2, 1890, in Trigg County, Ky., he was a son of George and Nancy Brandon. He was married July 2, 1909, in Cadiz, Ky., to Nannie Jane Kerby who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Henry, the Rev. George Brandon, the Rev. Eugene Brandon, pastor of the Georgetown Baptist Church and John Brandon all of Danville and Richard Brandon of Washington D.C. Also, five daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Lois) Rhodes, Mrs. Henry (Lee Ella) Kelly, Mrs. Ann Collins, Mrs. Melvina Ricksey and Miss Naomi Brandon, all of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Selena Watkins of Cadiz; 32 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The Rev. Mr. Brandon was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter and six brothers. His hobby was following baseball and boxing. The body is at the Leek & Sons Funeral Home where friends will be received after 6 p.m. Sunday and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Wilkins of Muncie, Ind., and the Rev. Talma Sykes officiating. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
