BREWER, Martha Culp - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Martha P. Brewer, age 84, of Gessie, died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, March 17, in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient two days. She had been in ill health four years. Mrs. Brewer was born Nov. 22, 1882, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of William and Hattie Sprague Culp. She was married Sept. 22, 1917, to Alva Brewer, who preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1961. Mrs. Brewer had resided in the Gessie area 50 years. She was a member of the Perrysville Chapter 302, Order of Eastern Star, and the Evergreen Camp of Royal Neighbors at Gessie. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Louise Gouty of Gessie, with whom she made her home, Mrs. Inez Druce of Fairfield, Calif., and Mrs. Frances Estes of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery, southwest of Covington.
