ATTICA — Donald Lee Brier, 72, Attica, died in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette, on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at 4:25. p.m. He had been hospitalized for a week. Don was born in Attica, on September 11, 1935. He was the son of the late Margaret Marie McFerren Brier. Don was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1955. Don had served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He recently retired after 43 years of service at the C & D Battery Company in Attica. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge #2596 of Attica. He was a former member of the American Legion Post #259 of Williamsport. He enjoyed reading and raising his vegetable garden. He was an avid I.U. Basketball fan and Chicago Cub fan. Don is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth "Beth” Jones and Cynthia (Scott) Childs, both of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; three grandchildren, Courtney and Samuel Childs, Gabriel Jones; two brothers, William R. “Bill” Brier, Attica; Thomas L. (Joyce) Brier, Windsor, Calif.; a sister, Betty (Jack) Crum, Escondido, Calif.; a very dear friend, Soledad “Sandy” Gonzalez Nunnally and the Gonzalez family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia R. Bowman. Funeral services were held at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, July 31st with Pastor Harvey Lange officiating. Burial with military services in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Community Foundation.
