Attica – Helen N. Pool Brier, 89, of 911 S. Perry St, died at 2:30  a.m. Tuesday June 12, 2001 of Woodland Manor Nursing Home where she had been a patient 1 ½ years. She was born Sept 18, 1911 in Rileysburg had resided in Veedersburg and was a Danville, Ill resident from 1930 until coming to Attica in 1945. For 15 years she was owner and operator of Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios of Attica and with her daughter was coowner of the studio in Crawfordsville.  She also sold Avon products in the Attica area.  On March 14, 1930 she married Fred W. Brier in Newport and he died April 29, 1989.  Mrs. Brier was a member of Attica Christian Church, Attica Bunco Club and Upper Level Senior Citizens of Attica. She enjoyed flowers and crocheting. Surviving is a daughter, Connie Helgers (husband James) of Mellott.

Brier, Helen N.  Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Services there 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Richard Carty officiating. Burial at Riverside Cemetery.  Preceded by a son, Fred E. “Freddie” Brier, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial to Attica Christian Church.
