COVINGTON – Funeral services for Mrs. Alpha Brooks, age 80, of Mt. Vernon, Ill , mother of E. E. (Gene) Brooks, retired businessman of Covington, were held Thursday in Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Brooks died Monday, Jan. 29, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon where she had been a patient two weeks. She had been ill since last May. Surviving are: two sons, Gene of Covington and Wilton of Alton, Ill. a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Alexander of Mt. Vernon; one granddaughter, Mrs. Paul (Ann) Galloway of Covington Rt. 2 and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister. -– jlr
