WAYNETOWN – Mrs. Laura Broom, a 76-year-old Rt. 1, Kingman resident, died Thursday at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she was taken last Sunday after becoming ill. Daughter of Glasgo and Linn Britten, Mrs. Broom was born Jan. 21, 1893. Mrs. Broom was married to Ellie Broom Jan. 13, 1944, in Greencastle. Mrs. Broom was a member of the Freedom Congregation Church near Wallace. She moved to Fountain County in 1939 and lived there on a farm the rest of her life. She was educated in Putnam County schools. Mrs. Broom is survived by her husband; a sister, Mrs. Lillian McFerran of Roachdale, and an aunt, Mrs. Ethel Eggers of Roachdale. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Albert Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. – jlr
